Frequently Asked Questions
Is Landcheck data official?
Landcheck uses data from Ontario GeoHub and federal open data portals. This is the same underlying data used by government agencies and planning professionals. However, Landcheck is a research tool β always verify with your conservation authority and municipality before making decisions.
How current is the data?
Each data layer shows a "Data as of" date. Most layers are refreshed quarterly or annually. Minister's Zoning Orders are monitored daily.
What is a Conservation Authority?
Ontario's 36 Conservation Authorities manage natural resources within watershed boundaries. They regulate development near water, in flood plains, and in other sensitive areas. A permit from your local CA may be required before building.
